Juvenile Arrests for all Substance Violations Based on Race / Ethnicity

The graphs below depict the number of arrests and arrest rates for all substance violations (controlled substance violations and liquor violations). Controlled substances include marijuana, cocaine, narcotics, amphetamine, crack, heroin, hallucinogens, amphetamines, barbiturates, and other dangerous drugs. Arrests for controlled substances include violations of possessing, producing, or using controlled substances. Liquor related arrests include violations of manufacturing, selling, misrepresentation of age, minor in possession, minor consuming/purchasing, and minor refusing PBT.

 

Juvenile Arrests for All Substance Violations in Kent County

Overall, the number of juvenile arrests for all substance use violations (controlled substances and liquor violations) have decreased from 2009-2013. Although, the number of arrests for all juveniles has increased slightly from 2012 to 2013.

Juvenile (aged 10-17 years) Substance Violation Arrest Rates in Kent County

The rates for African American juvenile arrests for all substance use (controlled substances and liquor violations) are consistently higher compared to all other juveniles. Although, the arrest rate for African American Juveniles decreased from 2012 to 2013 the arrest rate is still almost double of all other juveniles.
