30-Day Alcohol Use and Binge Drinking by Race / Ethnicity
Examining 30-day alcohol use from the 2015-2016 MIPHY by race/ethnicity reveals that African American youth in Kent County reported lower 30-day use of alcohol (8.1%) when compared to their Caucasian counterparts (13.7%). Hispanic youth reported the most frequent 30-day use of alcohol (15.6%).
Caucasian (7.7%) and Hispanic (7.2%) youth were also more likely to report binge drinking in the past 30 days than African American youth (2.1%).
